Size and Weight

As mentioned in the overview, the Kindle Touch has a 6″ screen. The entire body of this model is larger by a bit in dimensions (6.8″ x 4.7″ x 0.40″) compared to the basic Kindle. The Wi-fi only version of this model weighs 7.5 ounces while the one with 3G capabilities weighs 7.8 ounces. The physical built of this model does not have any keyboard or button-controllers as it is operated by its multi-touch screen.

If the Wi-Fi is turned on or the 3G capability is used, it can last for up to six (6) weeks. It takes about four (4) hours to fully charge the device with a computer using the provided USB 2.0 cable. Alternatively, you can also use a power adapter which is sold separately.

Connectivity

The Kindle Touch has two versions. The first one is the Wi-Fi only version while the other one is the Wi-Fi + 3G version. The Wi-Fi connection supports 802.11 b/g/n standard. On the other hand, the 3G capability supports HSDPA modem (3G) with a fallback to EDGE/GPRS. Browsing using either connection can be done using the Kindle’s native web browser, the Experimental Browser. The connection can also be used to purchase e-books from Amazon’s E-book store.

With EasyReach, the users of the device can effortlessly turn the pages of a book while holding it with either hand and without the need of swiping the screen. By simply tapping most part of the display, the e-book will be turned to the next page and the left edge, to the  previous page. The toolbar will appear by tapping the top part of the device.

The New X-ray Feature

The new X-ray feature, by a single tap, will allow you to look up characters, interesting phrases, historical figures, descriptions in Wikipedia and a lot more.

Text-to-Speech

Are your eyes too lazy to read? Let your ears do the reading for you. The Kindle Touch has a text-to-speech feature that reads out loud English contents. Other Software Features

Similar to the basic model, the Kindle Touch has the capability of changing the font style and size of e-books. You can also adjust the contrast of the screen for more comfortable reading. It also has the Experimental browser that lets you browse the web.
