So Australians can buy Kindle DX directly from Amazon.com and the latter will deliver it to you address in Australia. If you want to know more about this model, below is our product review.

Kindle AustraliaSize and Weight

What makes Kindle DX unique from the other members of the Kindle Family is its giant 9.7″ E ink display. Its entire body measures 10.4″ x 7.2″ x 0.38″ and weighs 18.9 ounces. It is actually bigger than the leading tablet in the market, Ipad, which measures 9.50″ x 7.31″ x 0.37″ and weighs 1.44 pounds.

Navigation

The Kindle DX is actually the enlarged version of the Kindle Keyboard. Hence, it also has a QWERTY keyboard below its display which can be used in navigation through the screen as well as typing and other functions.

Display

The Kindle DX uses the latest generation E ink Pearl technology with an improved contrast (by 50%) which makes text clearer and images sharper. With its large screen, the reading screen will not be limited to a paragraph or two only as its screen can make available a bigger portion of the book. This makes the Kindle DX ideal for reading periodicals, magazines, documents and other text and image files. Since the Kindle DX utilizes E ink Pearl, it feels like you are reading a real paper without the glares you get with an LCD/LED screen. It’s like having the size of a tablet without getting eye strains. It was indeed made for reading.

If the Wi-Fi is turne

d off, the device can last up to three (3) weeks depending on usage. If the Wi-Fi turned off, it can last up to a week. Kindle DX has already been discontinued. So, I guess you will not find one from Amazon. I suggest that you consider other models, especially the latest one. They now have Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Voyage, and the recently released second generation Kindle Oasis. They are definitely smaller than the DX but the added features are great.
